H. Allen Brooks ’49 died on August 8, 2010, in Hanover, where he had lived since 2003. Allen came to Dartmouth from New Haven (Connecticut) High School.
Henry H. Williams ’49 died on February 6, 2010, at his home in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Henry came to Dartmouth from the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts, after serving three years in the Army in Europe.
Frank O’Halloran ’49 died on December 21, 2008, in Edison, New Jersey, where he lived. Frank, who never married, worked in advertising and marketing. At age 90, he probably was the oldest member of the class.
James J. Ruch ’49 died on February 3 in Harwich, Massachusetts. Jim grew up on Long Island and served as a pilot in the Air Force before enrolling at Dartmouth, where he was an All-New England lacrosse player.
Richard J. Hyman ’49 died in Scottsdale, Arizona, his winter home, on December 27, 2009.
Andrew S. Kelsey ’49 died on September 25, 2009, in White Stone, Virginia. Sandy was born in San Francisco, and served in the Air Force from 1944 to 1946.
John G. McIlwraith ’49 died on May 12, 2009, in Carmel, Indiana. “L.J.” came to Dartmouth from Culver Military Academy. At Dartmouth he was a member of Green Key, Dartmouth Players, WDCR and Theta Chi.
Warren K. Ornstein ’49 died of cancer on December 25, 2009, in Cleveland, Ohio. “Ornie” came to Dartmouth from Culver Military Academy and made his mark as a 145-pound guard on the 1945 football team.
Robert Blair Rencurrel ’49 died on October 17, 2009, in Kennebunk, Maine. Bob graduated from Thayer Academy in South Braintree, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth he played hockey and belonged to Sigma Chi.
Richard H. Wallace ’49 died on January 25, 2009, in Lafayette, Indiana, where his daughter Gwendolyn lives.
