John McClellan Simpson ’49

John McClellan Simpson ’49 died on March 1, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he lived. John came to Dartmouth from St. James School in Pittsburgh. During his Army service in Tokyo in 1947, John was Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s driver and a member of his honor guard. After graduation John returned to his hometown and worked in the advertising and steel industries, becoming president of Bloom Engineering Co. He vacationed in the Phoenix area since 1964 and moved there in 2000. John is survived by his wife, Eleanor, and daughters Christine, Deborah and Susan.
