Robert David Bustard ’68 died in Sarasota, Florida, on December 20, 2024, of a heart attack. David grew up in Havertown, Pennsylvania.

Richard Edward Galardy ’68 passed away on August 30, 2024, in Madison, Connecticut, following a long and debilitating battle with cancer.

Wharton Westfeldt ’68 passed away on May 3 surrounded by family. He was born on January 20, 1946, in Denver.

Thomas R. Draper ’68 died on April 23 after a long illness. Originally from Villanova, Pennsylvania, at Dartmouth Tom was a government major, active at WDCR and a member of the Marching Band and Phi Tau.

Robert B. Rusin ’68 of Deerfield, Illinois,died October 5, 2022, after a long period of declining health. He came to Dartmouth from Winnetka, Illinois.

John Terrill Baker ’68, born February 16, 1946, died in August of 2022.

Thomas Erik Peterson ’68 died on June 15. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, on March 4, 1946, and attended high school in Ukiah, California, where he played football, basketball, and baseball.

John E. Gage ’68 died on June 8 in Henderson, Nevada, from complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Lewis Robert Achenbach Jr. ’68 of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on August 21. Bob was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, where he was a scholar athlete and captain of the football team.

Peter H. Werner ’68 died in Wilmington, North Carolina, on March 21 of heart complications following a torn aorta. Born January 17, 1947, in New York City to S.

Burton C. Quist ’68, retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel, died of cancer on January 25 at his home in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Peter M. Fahey ’68 died in Hanover on November 26, 2022, after battling pulmonary fibrosis. Born and raised in Winchester, Massachusetts, he was a chemistry major.

Richard P. Wilson ’68 of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on May 22.

Roy H. Landy ’68 died in January 2021, the College recently learned from his sister, Laurie. Roy came to Dartmouth from Sewanka High in Elmont, New York.

Stephen C. “Monk” Williams ’68 died on April 8, 2021, at a long-term care facility in Manchester, New Hampshire, of multiple sclerosis, which he faced for 44 years with courage, an indomitable spirit, and playful sense of humor.

Richard Nields Warnock ’68 died September 29, 2021, in Exeter, New Hampshire. Born July 16, 1946, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to G. Harold Warnock and Rosemary Kipe Thompson, Dick came to Dartmouth from Conestoga High School.

David Carleton Boyle ’68 passed away in Bountiful, Utah, on May 30 of Covid-19. Dave had the granite of New Hampshire in his muscles and his brain.

Richard Marvin Lannen ’68 died May 1 wearing his Texas Rangers jersey. Born to Dick and Rosalie Lannen, Rick lived throughout the West. He came to Dartmouth from Fergus High School in Lewistown, Montana.

Porter Eaton Coggeshall ’68 of Vienna, Virginia, died on January 3 from a heart attack while jogging. Born in Boston, the only child of Alice Eaton and Harrison Coggeshall, Porter grew up playing soccer and baseball.

Allen Lynn Skean ’68 died on December 18, 2019. Al’s sardonic, defiant humor, a defining characteristic of his nature, was unique and multifaceted.

Stephen F. Bauer ’68, M.D., died February 22 at his home in Rochester, New York. He was diagnosed two and a half years ago with multiple myeloma.

Peter Godfrey ’68, M.D., died July 24, 2018, at his home in Olean, New York, following a short illness.

Allan Griswold Johnson ’68 died December 24, 2017, at his home in Canton, Connecticut.After a childhood in Washington, D.C., and Oslo, Norway,Allan came to Dartmouth from Andover, Massachusetts.

Peter Craig Ginder ’68 died on February 7 in Anchorage, Alaska, of a heart attack. Pete graduated from West Anchorage High School.

Malcolm Alden Cross Jr. ’68 died on February 7 at his home in Tigard, Oregon. Mac came to Dartmouth from Danville, Virginia, was a member of Chi Phi/Heorot and was active at WDCR.

Steven Reiss ’68, Ph.D., emeritus professor of psychology at Ohio State University (OSU), died on October 28, 2016.

Robert Calvin Larson ’68 died December 29, 2014, of complications arising from lymphoma, which he had for 10 years. Bob grew up in Everett, Washington, where he captained the swim team and was involved in student government.

Thomas Russian ’68 died on May 6, 2015, at home in Orland Park, Illinois. He attended Reavis High School in nearby Burbank and was recruited to play football at Dartmouth.

William Kilborn Kendall ’68 died on January 8, 2014. Born in Augusta, Maine, and raised in Lewiston, Maine, Bill was the oldest of eight children.

Jonathan Gregg Doll ’68 died August 27, 2010, in Asia, the class and College recently learned. The news came from a high school contact who discovered it while planning for their 50th high school reunion.

George Bayard Merrill ’68 died of cancer on December 3, 2012. At Dartmouth he was a Spanish major and spent part of his junior year in Spain.

John Figgis Jewett Jr. ’68 died peacefully on April 27 in La Mesa, California. He was the son of Dr. John Figgis Jewett ’35.


Eric Alan Jones ’68 died on December 4, 2011, at the Life House in San Diego following a lengthy illness. Eric came to Dartmouth from Wayland, Massachusetts.

Lew Carey Sayers Jr. ’68 died on October 4, 2011, at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas, where he spent the last 36 years teaching English, developmental writing and technical writing.


John Mitchell Weigel ’68 died in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on October 19, 2010, less than a year after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Gary Loomis Blaich ’68, M.D., died at home in Kilauea, Hawaii, of cancer on November 25, 2010. Born and raised in Hawaii, at Dartmouth Gary was a brother at Sigma Alpha Epsilon and a member of Casque & Gauntlet and Green Key.
