Robert Moore McIlwain ’50 of Bernardsville, New Jersey, and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on October 24, 2015, not long after he attended his 65th reunion at Dartmouth.
Emil T. Hudak ’50 of Rockville Centre, New York, passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2014.
Pieter von Herrmann ’50 died on July 1, 2013, his birthday. At Dartmouth he majored in mathematics, was a member of Theta Chi and worked at the Indian Bowl restaurant.
Austin Tobin Jr. ’50 died on May 9, 2012, in Waterbury, Connecticut. Austin enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during his senior year at Polytechnic Preparatory in Brooklyn.

Robert H. Woody ’50 died on April 21, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by his family. During World War II he served from 1943 to 1946 with the famed 10th Mountain Division in Italy.

William B. Gumbart Jr. ’50 died on May 2, 2010. While at Dartmouth he majored in sociology. During World War II Bill served in England and France with the Army’s 874th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Co.
Wilmer Hill ’50 died on March 21, 2010. While at Dartmouth he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Ledyard Canoe Club and the Dartmouth Outing Club. Bill lived in Hitchcock Hall for four years.
James M. Hutton III ’50 of Rye, New York, and lastly of Nantucket, Massachusetts, died on July 25, 2010. While at Dartmouth he was a member of Psi Upsilon, where he was social chairman.
Walter Lindenthal ’50 died peacefully on October 27, 2010, surrounded by his family at the Mark Wentworth Home in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
James H. McCrum ’50 died on July 23, 2010. Jim, one of an unknown but seemingly small number of ’50s who never married, led an interesting and atypical life. At Dartmouth he was a member of Phi Delta Theta.
Anthony S. Poltrack ’50 died on January 11, 2010, as the result of complications from multiple myeloma. Tony’s parents emigrated from Poland. He was the ninth of 10 children, only two of whom survive him.
John E. Rogers Jr. ’50 of Houston, Texas, died on January 20 at home, where he lived with his wife of 55 years, Katie. While at Dartmouth he was a member of the Glee Club and Sigma Nu. John left the College in his junior year.

Frederick Pring See ’50 died peacefully at his home in Marion, Massachusetts, on October 19, 2010, following a long and debilitating experience with kidney dialysis.
Carroll M. “Kim” Swezey Jr.’50 died in November 2009. While at Dartmouth Kim was a member of the Marching Band and the Dartmouth Outing Club.
Richard Glenn Ceely ’50 died on March 23, 2010, of lung cancer. While at Dartmouth Dick majored in history and was a member of Gamma Delta Chi. Prior to attending the College he served in the Air Force.
William R. Collins ’50, M.D., died peacefully on November 16, 2009, in Port Ludlow, Washington, where he had moved in 1996.
