Wilmer Hill ’50

Wilmer Hill ’50 died on March 21, 2010. While at Dartmouth he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Ledyard Canoe Club and the Dartmouth Outing Club. Bill lived in Hitchcock Hall for four years. He majored in government, having already decided on the law as his future profession. He attended Georgetown University Law School from 1950 through graduation in 1953. Younger than most of his Dartmouth classmates, he had not served in the military prior to 1946. In 1953 he was drafted and served in Korea for nearly two years in the Army Signal Corps. This was followed by the practice of law in the field of transportation, during which time he was elected to the presidency of the Transportation Lawyers Association. Following the deregulation of transportation, Bill became an administrative law judge with the Social Security Administration and remained such until his retirement in 1996. At the time of his death he left his wife of 42 years, Joan, and sons Stuart and Stephen.
