William F. Gavitt Jr. ’55 died May 8 in Riverside, California. He came to Dartmouth from Waverly High School in Rhode Island and majored in geography.

Robert T. Taylor ’55 passed away in Beaufort, North Carolina, on May 16. He is survived by his wife, Gail, and daughters Laura, Lindsey, Margaret, and Mary.

Carl G. Weisenfeld ’55 passed away in Livingston, New Jersey, on March 27, 2017. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Carl came to Dartmouth from Passaic High School.

Edward J. Willi Jr. ’55 passed away June 24 in Redding, Connecticut. He leaves Cecilia, his wife of 57 years, daughter Denise and three grandchildren.

Roger S. Young ’55 died on March 30 in San Diego. He came to Dartmouth from Merion High School in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.

Robert E. Hamilton Jr. ’57 of Andover, New Hampshire, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease more than 20 years ago and passed away peacefully on February 15.

Lee T. Hirschey ’57 passed away peacefully on May 24 at the Glenridge in Sarasota, Florida. Lee graduated from Manlius Military Academy in DeWitt, New York.

Rom W. Powell ’57 of Winter Park, Florida, passed peacefully on December 15, 2017. Rom arrived at Dartmouth from Northside High School in Atlanta.

Andrew E. Turner Jr. ’57 died on April 22 in Mount Vernon, Virginia. Andy was born in Connecticut and graduated from Hopkins Grammar School in New Haven, Connecticut.

Richard Lee Scherff ’59 died on March 27. He entered Dartmouth from Lincoln High School in Canton, Ohio, majored in history, and was a member of Alpha Theta and Glee Club.
