Roger S. Young ’55

Roger S. Young ’55 died on March 30 in San Diego. He came to Dartmouth from Merion High School in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. Roger majored in government and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Green Key, Palaeopitus, Casque & Gauntlet, Air Force ROTC, and crew. He also served as freshman class treasurer, sophomore class president, and senior class vice president. After completing his service in the Air Force as a captain, Roger earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania before realizing his ambition to be an FBI agent. Roger retired in San Diego after a 23-year career as an FBI agent, stationed in New York, Phoenix, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. In 1981 he was promoted to assistant director for the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs. Roger was chief spokesman for high-profile cases, including the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. He served as an Alumni Fund volunteer and class agent. Roger is survived by his wife, Teresa, sons Curt and Tim, daughters Krista and Elicia, and stepsons Brandon, Jaryd, and Tyson.
