Robert E. Hamilton Jr. ’57

Robert E. Hamilton Jr. ’57 of Andover, New Hampshire, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease more than 20 years ago and passed away peacefully on February 15. Bob graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire. At Dartmouth he was an English major and participated each year with the Glee Club and the Outing Club. After Dartmouth Bob served in the U.S. Army and then worked in the insurance industry, where he developed computer programs before entering the merchandising and retail industry. He managed retail and design operations for Design Research, the American Institute of Architects, and the Museum of Fine Arts. He owned a home design store in Boston. Bob approached life as a quiet, proud, kind, and gentle man with a strong work ethic and high moral standards and principles. He married Elizabeth Worrell (who predeceased him). They had four children who survive him: Damon, Christopher, Heather, and Sarah. He is also survived by his sister, many grandchildren, and his life partner of 38 years, Kenneth Reid.
