Last time I opened with “Stop right now and drop me a note.” Do it now! That’s why folks turn to Class Notes—to read about you. You really don’t want me making things up now, do you?

I got this note from Peter DeNatale: “I’m still trying to figure out how much of my inner DOC remains, so I decided to opt for a weeklong hut-to-hut excursion in the Dolomites in July. With any luck you won’t find me listed on the back page of the alumni magazine. If you get my call for class dues in October you’ll know I made it.” Next up for Peter and Sue, Patagonia/Argentina March 2026.

Some exciting news from Black Alumni at Dartmouth Association (BADA): “Give a rouse and congratulations to Dr. Manya Whitaker ’06!” She’s the daughter of proud dad Rocky Whitaker. Students at Colorado College are being welcomed back this fall by Dr. Whitaker, the new college president.

This fall our class Health Equity Scholar program will welcome the third cohort of undergraduate research interns. If you haven’t already, check out the presentations of the second cohort and get a glimpse of the third cohort at https://sites.dartmouth.edu/tdi-health-equity/undergrad.

In September I’ll be taking in the World Rowing Masters Regatta in Banyoles, Spain. My wife, Beth, will cox a men’s four and men’s eight. We’ll then spend time in Istanbul before a long weekend with our daughter and son-in-law in upper Bavaria. In October we’ll join a mini-reunion at the Door County, Wisconsin, summer home of Anne (Steve) Gilford along with Jan and Jeff Simpson, Gaylin and Jeff Baxter, and Mary and Lowell “Jep” Gruman as well as ’73s Frank Munn and Michael DeVries.

What did you read this summer that you’d like to share? For me it’s The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi by Wright Thompson. “A shocking and revelatory account of the murder of Emmett Till…and how the truth was hidden for so long.” It’s a must-read. Le’ me know and I’ll pass it on.
