The mortality disparity working group welcomed Holger Liepmann and Bob Holley to the team as they look forward to our third cohort of health equity scholars in 2025-26.
Rocky Whitaker shared, “Several Dartmouth alumni hung out with me at the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Basketball Tournament in Baltimore in late February. Among them were ’75s Richard Jones, Lenny Branche, Jeff Hunter, and George Garrow along with Stu Simms ’72.” The tournament is the oldest historically Black colleges and universities basketball tournament in the United States.”
From Ron Cathcart: “I finally retired from an eventful banking career that brought me and my family to live in numerous cities within Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. I now live with my wife of 44 years, Leila, in Bedford, New Hampshire, where I continue to be active with board work that brings me frequently to New York and Paris. Our three adult children live in New York, Chicago, and L.A. I finally became a grandfather, to grandson Kaito Fareed, which is likely to keep us busy for a while. I see Michael Connolly frequently and was very pleased to become reacquainted with many familiar faces at our 50th reunion.”
Great to get a note from Bob Stevenson, who writes, “Moved to Tucson, Arizona, two years ago to get closer to daughter and son, for warmer weather, and no more shoveling snow. Retired now for eight-plus years, I enjoy lots of sunshine, walks with the dog, golf three times a week, and recent trips across the United States.”
From Matt Putnam’s longer note found in the newsletter: “This past September led to disassembling my parents’ house, which led to Ann and I promising to get our old house cleaned out sooner rather than later. One useful thing we learned during the process came from my mom’s desk drawer, where she had left an instruction book titled: ‘Don’t throw my memories in the trash!’ ”
