Class of 2014
Class Notes
View All Notes for Class of 2014Happy spring, ’14s! Thanks to all of you who wrote in. This month I also reached out at random to an assortment of classmates (yes, you could be next!) and received some great responses. Eva Xiao writes, “After living and working as a foreign correspondent in China for seven years, I moved to New York City in 2023 and now work for the Financial Times. Even more exciting: I officially levelled up to be an aunt last year! Looking forward to (re)connecting with even more friends old and new in 2025.” Bridget End is living in Boulder, Colorado, working as a physical therapist at an outpatient, sports and orthopedic clinic, where she specializes in treating runners. She is also engaged to Mike Giansanti and getting married this coming September!
Alison Helzer writes in: “Seeing so many of you at our 10-year reunion was rejuvenating, healing, and a hell of a good time. I am humbled and inspired that the threads of my life are entwined with all of yours. I hope to continue reconnecting in the coming years. For those of you I didn’t see, here’s my elevator pitch life update: I married my soulmate Chandlor Henderson in 2019. Through the years our family has grown to three dogs, a cat, a tortoise, and two freshwater fish tanks. I’m currently an accountant for the tech transfer office at the University of Oregon, where I’m also a proud exec board member of SEIU 085 (our classified workers union).”
Will Jewett married Audrey Phillips last July and is living in Seattle. He has been pursuing sculpture full time since the beginning of 2024, and his pieces include a range of interactive sculptures—“swings and other pieces that you can sit on, stand on, or otherwise interact with in some capacity.” Check out his work at willjewettart.com. You might be reminded of sunny days on the swinging seat of Mark di Suvero’s X-Delta outside Novack….
In other news, a ’14-created product had its 30 seconds of fame during the Super Bowl this year: Comedian Adam DeVine rushes frantically through a supermarket and around town in search of a Cirkul water bottle in the ad, which has more than 260,000 follow-up views on YouTube. Cofounded by Andy Gay and Garrett Waggoner ’13, Cirkul combines a reusable water bottle with built-in disposable flavor cartridges, including electrolyte and energy drinks.
And finally, Katie Chung writes in with news of several classmates: “Mitchell Jacobs, Allegra Condiotte, Marissa Allen, Colleen Cowdery, and I recently reunited on a hiking adventure in Utah! We went to Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes. We enjoyed a lot of beautiful hikes, cooking together, and reading aloud some terrible fiction (Adventures of Finnegan Dragonbender—it’s as terrible as it sounds, and we loved it). I am moving from Los Angeles to Berkeley to start a position as a generalist obstetrician-gynecologist at Sutter Health. Mitchell will be entering his final year of his Ph.D. program at USC for creative writing/poetry. Allegra is working as a forensic psychiatrist and Marissa is a software engineer in Portland, Oregon. Colleen is finishing her toxicology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University and is moving to Seattle to be part of the leadership for the Washington state poison center.”
