Dogs of Dartmouth

Man’s best friend is no stranger to the College.

“Ace likes hanging out on the Collis patio because it’s the crossroads of a lot of activity,” says David Pack, associate director of student involvement, of his miniature pinscher. Other local dogs, pictured here, like to roll around on the Green, swim in the river, and, of course, chase squirrels. “That’s why Webster likes the Bema,” says Chuck Sherman ’66 of his Australian shepherd. Of course.

A History of Dartmouth in 50 Objects

From a weathered book of Scripture, circa 1743, to a dirty pair of 2013 running spikes, the things that make Dartmouth different are the things that make Dartmouth.

Slowing Down Time

Photography professor Virginia Beahan brings an old-school technique and a rare sensibility to her craft.

Disappearing Rio Grande

In 1977 a Ledyard Canoe Club expedition was the first to navigate the entire 1,888-mile Rio Grande. Thirty-seven years later a second expedition retraced the strokes of these Dartmouth adventurers to chronicle the plight of a drought-plagued river.
