The birth year of most members of our class is 1930; about 70 percent is the number we have. That means most of us still in the game will be celebrating our 95th birthday this year. We don’t know how you will be commemorating that day, but we did receive news of one event that merits reporting. Ken Roman sent us this message about the birthday of his good friend (actually, everyone’s good friend) John Rosenwald. “On May 21 John Rosenwald celebrated his 95th birthday at the New York Stock Exchange—more than 300 friends for cocktails on the trading floor, 170 at dinner in the board room. There were taped tributes from his J.P. Morgan boss Jamie Dimon (who won’t let him retire) and former mayor Michael Bloomberg (on Rosie’s contributions to New York City institutions). His daughter, Melanie Shorin, presented ‘Rosie’s Rules—Family Edition,’ including ‘Happy wife (or girlfriend), happy life.’ Try saying, ‘I have an idea! Let’s do it your way.’ It ended with ‘Keep moving forward. Honor the past and walk optimistically into the future.’ ” Well said, and a fine tribute to one of our class leaders. We would welcome stories about your 95th or any other news for that matter. We also recently had a good, lengthy conversation with Dr. Robert Millhouse, a resident of Moorpark, California. Bob, like most of us, is staying close to home and reports he is doing well, except for some damage done by a neighbor’s overfriendly dog that recently knocked him down in a playful greeting. We can report things are fine in Hanover, but construction and renovation seem to be everywhere. New dormitories are going up, buildings that weren’t in existence (Hopkins Center, Leverone Field House, Thompson Arena) while we were being educated are already being renovated and a whole new campus heating system is being installed. “Time marches on.” We regret to report the passing of John C. McDonald, John B. Crowell Jr., and George C. Pollard.
