Arts Legacy Committee members David Peck and Mark Waterhouse wrote to let you know that to support more projects and honor our fellow committee member, the recently deceased Ron Weiss, a group of classmates has created a matching gift fund to encourage donations. Please consider sending a check to “Dartmouth Class of 1968” with a note directing the money to the “Arts Legacy Fund.” Mail it to Jim Lawrie, 1458 Popinjay Drive, Reno, NV, 89509-3984. A memorial service for the respected Mr. Weiss brought together Mark and partner Leslie Cosgrove, Peter Weston, Bob Ross, Cedric Kam, Ed Heald, Dave Gang and Roberta, and Gerry Bell and Jackie.

When he wasn’t recommending Robert Crais’ new novel, Gerry was conducting a survey of classmates about how we file taxes. Results: Four times as many people use a private preparer as do their own using tax software. Gerry himself clings to the paper-and-pencil struggle.

Jim L. recently attended an Alta, Utah, ski trip first organized about 25 years ago by Clark Wadlow and annually populated by Gerry B., Joe Grasso, Joe Lowry, the late Larry Griffith, and Dave Strohmeyer. It’scome to be known as the “Fabulous Utah Trip” (FUT) and now involves three generations of family members.

The American Bar Association Journal has posted an interview it conducted with Roger Witten about his book, Legal Briefs. Read the session by searching “ABA Journal podcast” and then Roger’s name or “recent.” Roger’s also seeking Give a Rouse award nominations from class members and changing some dates in the selection process and annual ceremony. The class website has details. Also on the site, Peter Hofman notes that reading about classmates who worked in nonmilitary national service organizations and the Peace Corps will generate community service project involvement. Click “CSP.”

Cinemaster W.D. Richter graciously sent me a gift subscription to the “courageous and important” blog, The Contrarian, and Sherwood Guernsey wrote to thank all classmates who donated a total of $3,400 to the L.A. fire victims relief fund, the World Central Kitchen.

Class of ’68s ’60s activism endures in ’25! Bravo!
