William R. Trager ’57

William R. Trager ’57 of Prairie Village, Kansas, died on November 8, 2014. He graduated from Peoria (Illinois) High School. At Dartmouth he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. After stints in the Army and at the University of Wisconsin Law School, he joined Lyon Metal Products Inc., a manufacturer of steel products, mainly lockers for schools and industry. The company sent him to New York City to cover the surrounding area, then called him back to its home office in Aurora, Illinois. Bill was in the junior chamber of commerce, becoming president of the local chapter. He was a master Mason of the grand lodge. He moved to Kansas and after five years formed his own company, Locker System Inc., where he worked “with everything there is to do with lockers—all kinds of schools, colleges, sport teams, professional football and baseball teams, the IRS and the Department of Defense.” In Kansas City Bill was active in the community teaching soccer to young boys and officiating in tennis. An avid football fan, he was a season ticketholder for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fly-fishing in Canada was a lifelong interest and led to annual trips and articles written about fishing. Every opening day he went to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. He was especially proud of his garden. Bill is survived by two children and 12 grandchildren.
