William Hubert Duggan Jr. ’59

William Hubert Duggan Jr. ’59 died on January 6. He entered Dartmouth from Saint Mary’s High School in Manhasset, New York. He majored in economics and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He was commissioned in the Navy upon graduation from Dartmouth and, following two years of active naval duty, went to Fordham Law School, graduating in 1964. After employment as an associate lawyer with two law firms, including Shearman & Sterling in New York City, Bill formed, with a law partner, the firm of Edwards & Duggan and practiced law in the East Hampton, New York, area for nearly 50 years. Bill was an active contributor to the eastern Long Island community, in particular serving during the course of many years the Southampton Hospital, the Peconic Health System and the East Hampton Rotary Club. He served as treasurer of the class of 1959 from 1959 to 1973. His wife of 50 years, Kathryn, predeceased Bill by less than a year. He leaves children Ann and William III, two grandchildren, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
