William H. Jameison ’51

William H. Jameison ’51, M.D., who for 30 years was the primary general surgeon at Northern Duchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, New York, died on February 28. He is survived by his wife, Marie, three sons, three grandchildren and brother Timothy ’52. Bill was a chemistry-zoology major at Dartmouth and a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa. He received his M.D. at Albany Medical College and did his surgical residency at the Westchester Medical Center in White Plains, New York. He served as a U.S. Army surgeon before beginning his medical practice in Rhinebeck. At his funeral neighbors observed that the community relied on his steady hands, surgical experience and caring relationship with his devoted patients. Bill was a pilot and enjoyed flying his Piper Cherokee. He loved spending time at the Jameison Camp at Honnedaga Lake in the Adirondacks. He had a love of nature and outdoor activities, including fly-fishing, skiing, shooting and horseback riding, joys that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
