Whitney Anne Buckholz ’09

Whitney Anne Buckholz ’09 died on June 5 after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer, surrounded by family at her home in Brooklyn. Whitney was born March 3, 1987, in New York City and graduated from Saint Ann’s School. After earning her A.B. at Dartmouth she went on to receive an M.P.H. at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. At Dartmouth Whitney was involved in The Dartmouth, Women in Science Project, and the women’s rowing team and completed a French foreign study program in Paris. Whitney was a trustee of the Friends of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library and served as associate director of strategic policy at Ryan Health in New York City at the time of her death. She was known by her friends for her clever and quirky sense of humor, incredible storytelling, love of books and commitment to public health, and relentless devotion to her friends and family. Whitney is survived by her parents, Lizanne Fontaine ’77 and Robert Buckholz ’76; siblings John ’04 (and partner Katherine), Elizabeth (and partner Antonin), Nathaniel (and partner Paul), and Quentin (and partner Nooshin); and nieces, nephews, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
