Timothy Jarrett Sullivan ’76
Timothy Jarrett Sullivan ’76 of Sterling, Virginia, died unexpectedly at home on December 18, 2013. He came to Hanover from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, where he was an All-Metropolitan soccer player. At Dartmouth “T-man” majored in art. He was a member of Gamma Delta Chi. His time not studying was spent painting, playing music with friends, watching the sun set from his fraternity’s roof, playing jungle ball, swimming at Union Village dam and hiking Moosilauke. Upon graduation he spent several years in Boston and then moved back to the Virginia area. Tim became a mechanical designer working for several companies, contracting with others. He nurtured three children from his first marriage: Anna, Katherine and Michael. With classmates, great timing and a bit of luck, Tim reconnected with Karen Ann Hagarman ’77, a friend from undergraduate days, marrying in 2007. When his company SAIC downsized, Tim took a leap of faith and, with Karen’s support, opened an online gallery to show his art and music. He took commissions to write or produce music and paint. Word spread and his art grew. Tim in his 50s was fulfilling the promise of his undergraduate days. His studio can be viewed at timsullivanstudio.com. As Karen has noted: “God came first, then family, then work.” Tim’s positive spirit and joy will be missed.
