Thomas Walvoord Osborn ’54

Thomas Walvoord Osborn ’54 passed away on March 29, 2017, at his home in Laguna Beach, California. Tom came to Dartmouth from St. Paul Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. He left Dartmouth early to graduate from Northwestern University in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Jazz Band, stationed in the United States and Germany. Tom worked for Ecolab, launching its still popular Finish dishwasher detergent, and was also an entrepreneur, marketing consultant, and vice president of marketing at the American Management Association. He volunteered for several different causes, including assisting small business owners with planning. He continued to play music until his death and was an accomplished painter. Tom is survived by his second wife, Valerie; children Edward, Gillian, Nicholas, and Benjamin; stepchildren Vanessa, Toby, Richard, and Bronwen; brother Merritt ’50; and 16 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Penelope.
