Thomas A. Donahoe ’57

Thomas A. Donahoe ’57 passed away on November 16, 2024. Tom came from Oak Park (Illinois) High School and was recruited to Dartmouth for basketball, which he played all four years. He was part of the 3-2 program, earning his bachelor’s in 1957 and M.B.A. from Tuck in 1958. He belonged to Beta Theta Pi, Sphinx, Newman Club (president) and Young Democrats. Tom served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves before beginning a 38-year distinguished career at Price Waterhouse & Co., becoming a certified public accountant. Tom thrived in the environment of serving clients and had an innate ability to work with people and organizations to find positive solutions. He was admitted to partnership in 1970 and became partner in charge in Chicago and then regional managing partner and vice chairman of the Great Lakes region. He retired in 1996. Tom believed strongly in the importance of giving back to community. He served on the boards of United Way, American Red Cross, Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, Junior Achievement, and YMCA. He poured his energy into the Chicago Botanic Garden, Kohl’s Children’s Museum, and Hadley Vision Resources (for those with low or lost vision). Catholic faith was his north star. He was active in his parish, serving as lector and on the finance council. He was a longtime Alumni Fund class agent. Tom was predeceased by Sara, his wife of 58 years, and is survived by son John ’82, daughters Martha and Susan, grandson Thomas ’09, and a large family.
