Theodore “Ted” McConnell ’70

Theodore “Ted” McConnell ’70 of Raccoon Township, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 4. From 1970 to 1974 he served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant on the USS Massey. He returned stateside to graduate from Georgetown Law School. He began his law career at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart. During the early 1990s he served as a legal counsel in the U.S. Department of Transportation. He also taught city planning at the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School and served as cochair of Pittsburgh’s Riverlife task force. Ted retired in 2021 after a long career at K&L Gates. Ted grew up on a farm, continued his love of farming wherever he lived, and placed his farm in a conservancy. He is survived by his wife, Penny; children Emily, Kirk, Jessica, Zachary, and Sarah; siblings Marion and Edwin; and nine grandchildren.
