Theodore John Suess III ’63

Theodore John Suess III ’63 of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 16, 2023. He was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, and grew up in Verona, New Jersey, attending Verona High School, where he was class vice president and participated in track and yearbook. At Dartmouth Ted graduated in economics, was dorm chairman, a Newman Club member, and a brother of Tri Kap, where he was athletic chairman. He went on to Tuck School and received an M.B.A. in 1964. Ted was an active Dartmouth volunteer as a member of the executive committee and class agent for the Dartmouth College Fund. His career in finance spanned an impressive 50 years: first as an accountant with Price Waterhouse, then as assistant treasurer of Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia, then as managing director at Ashford Capital Management in Wilmington, Delaware. Ted married Anne, his wife of 56 years, in 1966. He survived kidney failure in 1978, receiving a kidney transplant from his sister, Barbara. A highlight of family life occurred in 1984, when Ted and Russell Sage roommate Bob Bysshe ’63 and their families took a combined seven children in two RVs for a month-long excursion throughout the Southwest. Ted is survived by three children and eight grandchildren.
