Stanley Kogan ’52

Stanley Kogan ’52, M.D., a retired Baltimore oral-maxillofacial surgeon who had been chief of the department of dentistry at Sinai Hospital (now Northwest Hospital), died March 20, 2015, of cardiopulmonary disease, we recently learned. Stanley was born in Baltimore and raised in Windsor Hills, Maryland. After graduating from Baltimore City College in 1948, he attended Dartmouth for three years before entering the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where he earned his dental degree in 1954. While serving in the Army, Stanley, who attained the rank of captain, was chief of oral surgery at Fort Hood, Texas. He had a distinguished medical practice and later in life began a second career after enrolling at what is now Loyola University Maryland, where he earned a degree in economics. For five years he served on the faculty at Loyola as an assistant professor of economics. He was a member of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation and supported many charitable Jewish organizations. In addition to his wife, Sandi, he is survived by children Joshua, Thomas, Laura, Sally, and Jillian; seven grandchildren; and brother Leonard ’55.
