Patrick has been key to the success of Washington, D.C.’s ice hockey team for more than 40 years, working as the team president since 1982. As DAM reported in 2020, he also has an ownership stake. On August 28, the Caps announced a restructuring that promotes general manager Brian MacLellan to president and moves Patrick into the chairman’s seat.
