Roy T. Mattucci ’55

Roy T. Mattucci ’55 passed away in North Hampton, New Hampshire, on August 10, 2024. He is survived by Doris, his wife of 69 years; children Lynn and Roy Jr.; and grandchildren Monica and Michael. He enjoyed a long, successful career in construction. In his 25th reunion book, Roy wrote, “I have found contentment in what is usually a frustrating business. Thank God, I love it, for there are many less-than-ideal days.” Roy grew up in Ridgeway, New Jersey, and came to Dartmouth from Blair Academy. At Dartmouth he majored in history and was a member of Zeta Psi. He graduated and married Doris in June 1955, then served two years in the Army with the 63rd Field Artillery Battalion in Korea. Upon his return, Roy became an expert in construction, from design through final completion, starting with companies in New Jersey. He also became a co-owner of a firm that specialized in private contracts. In 1969 Roy and Doris moved to North Hampton. Roy was a longtime member of the New Castle Yacht Club and the Seacoast Tennis Club. He enjoyed scuba diving, boating, playing tennis, photography, and attending local jazz venues. He was an avid Red Sox fan and had season tickets for many years.
