Ronald W. Dougherty ’54

Ronald W. Dougherty ’54 passed away June 1 at his home in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Canton Lincoln High School and at Dartmouth was a member of Air Force ROTC, Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra, intramural athletics, and Phi Tau/Phi Sigma Kappa. After graduation Ron was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and served as a lieutenant. Following his service, he enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Law, where he graduated in 1960. He returned to Canton with his wife, Carole, to begin his law career. Ron was a managing partner of Krugliak Wilkins Griffiths & Dougherty and was immensely proud of the firm, its attorneys, and clients. During his career he chaired for the Ohio State Bar Association and eventually was its president in 2003. He ran the initial construction fundraising campaign committee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and served as general counsel and eventually director. In the decades after college Ron remained devoted to both Dartmouth and the University of Virginia, actively organizing reunions and fundraising efforts. Ron was predeceased by Carole in 2011. He is survived by children Kerry and Russell and grandsons.
