Ronald Francis Kehoe ’59

Ronald Francis Kehoe ’59 died on September 25, 2015. He entered Dartmouth from Medford (Massachusetts) High School, majored in English and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was active with WDCR during his entire four years at the College and served as broadcast supervisor and, during his senior year, as general manager. He was known to many of his classmates and others in the community as the voice of WDCR. Following graduation Ron chose a career in law in preference to broadcasting and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1962. While in law school he worked part-time as an announcer for WHDH and participated in the Harvard Voluntary Defenders, foreshadowing the public service he performed at the end of his career. Following law school Ron practiced law with several firms in the Boston area, including Warner & Stackpole and successor Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, earning a reputation as an experienced, formidable and highly principled litigator. In 2001, after nearly 40 years in the private practice of law, Ron joined the office of the attorney general of Massachusetts. As an assistant attorney general Ron served for more than 10 years as a litigator and mentor to younger attorneys for the trial and administrative law divisions. In 2011 he received an Attorney General’s Award for Excellence. His brother, William ’55, predeceased him. Ron leaves Frances, his wife of 50 years, daughters Julia and Laura and grandchildren Cecelia, Oliver and Isaac.
