Rodney F. Du Bois ’57

Rodney F. Du Bois ’57 longtime resident of Hanover, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 11, 2020. Rod graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and was a member of the soccer and track teams, Dartmouth Christian Union, Ledyard Canoe Club, and Navy ROTC (on drill team). He earned his M.B.A. from Tuck School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy as a communications officer, rising to the rank of lieutenant. Following executive positions in New York City, finance and real estate took him to Honolulu, where he was executive vice president of C. Brewer. He was a founding partner of Alexander and Baldwin, a company that designed, financed, and managed large-scale agribusiness projects in countries around the world, including Iran, Sudan, and Thailand. These projects helped countries with underutilized land and manpower to move toward food self-sufficiency. Rod returned to Hanover in 1978 to become an adjunct professor, teaching real estate at Tuck School and serving as managing director for the investment banking firm of Warburg Paribas Becker. Subsequently he pursued entrepreneurial efforts in the cable and real estate industries. For more than two decades he managed Keaau macadamia orchards, a farming corporation for Mauna Loa macadamia nuts. Classmates will recall Homecoming postgame parties graciously hosted by Rod and Carol at their home on Rip Road in Hanover.Rod is survived by Carol, his wife for more than 50 years; daughters Sabrina, Monique, and Karen; son Stephen; and grandchildren.
