Robert P. Giordano ’57

Robert P. Giordano ’57 of Boxford, Massachusetts, died on October 30, 2016. He graduated from Marblehead (Massachusetts) High School. At Dartmouth Bob was a member of Chi Phi. He left Dartmouth early, served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963 and was also employed at General Electric as a jet engine tester. In 1958 he opened a restaurant with his father and brother called The Three G’s. It later became Giordano’s Restaurant and the Starlite Dinner Theater, where his family grew up working together. Bob had a passion for entertaining his loyal patrons, producing hundreds of shows during many years. He was very hands on, directing numerous shows himself, creating musical revues and building sets. Bob supported the local community through Little League sponsorship and high school scholarships and cooked spaghetti dinners for St. Mary’s Church. He was given a badge and made an honorary member of the Georgetown police department and was also a longtime corporator of the Georgetown Savings Bank. His restaurant was host to the local Kiwanis and American Legion meetings and countless charity events. When his kids got old enough to manage the restaurant, he bought a sailing yacht and sailed with his wife of 58 years, Roberta, from Bar Harbor, Maine, to the Florida Keys.Bob is survived by Roberta, five children and many grandchildren.
