Robert Lindley Young ’59
Robert Lindley Young ’59 died on August 28, 2018. He entered Dartmouth from Great Falls (Montana) High School and was a member of Zeta Psi. He was in the 3/2 program with the Medical school (then a two-year school) and completed his M.D. at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He then entered active duty with the Air Force, stationed primarily at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and eventually specializing in endocrinology and nuclear medicine. During the Vietnam War he taught at a Vietnamese medical school. He retired from the Air Force as a colonel and began, in the early 1980s, a private medical practice in the El Paso, Texas, area that continued for almost 30 years. He then became an associate professor at the University of Texas-El Paso Medical School, retiring in 2013. Upon retirement he and Adelaide (“Becky”), his wife of 41 years, moved to Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He is survived by Becky; two children from a former marriage, Craig and Wendy; and one grandchild. His daughter from a former marriage, Shawna, predeceased him.
