Robert J. Googins ’57

Robert J. Googins ’57 died on February 25. Bob grew up in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, and attended Wilbraham Academy. At Dartmouth he played soccer all four years for Coach Tommy Dent. Bob was a brother of Beta Theta Pi and a member of Casque & Gauntlet. In his senior year he belonged to the Dartmouth Christian Union, serving as a cabinet member at large. Bob graduated from Tuck School. His career was in education. A highly respected English teacher at Kingswood Oxford, a coed independent day school in his hometown of West Hartford, Connecticut, he was described as “kind, charismatic, humble, funny, intelligent and deeply human. Bob drew people to him.” A celebration of his life was held at Kingswood Oxford on May 13. He is survived by his wife, Carol.
