Robert C. Ohl ’57

Robert C. Ohl ’57 passed away from cancer on May 9 at his home in Tudeils, France. Bob came to Dartmouth from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York. He majored in English and was in the Yacht Club and Navy ROTC. He earned his M.B.A. from Wharton in 1961. Bob began his career as an investment advisor with Chemical Bank. In 1968 he joined John P. Chase Inc., then in 1975 went out on his own, forming Bay Colony Financial Management Inc. in Boston, and made it a success for a full career. During his working years he and his wife, Irina, had a farm in rural Vermont. After retiring in 2001, and having had enough of long winters, they made an abrupt change in lifestyle. They had come to love France after much travel in that country, so sold their farm and moved to France. They restored a cottage and then a “petit” chateau in the south-central part of the country. Working with French contractors proved to be a challenging adventure. They enjoyed getting to know France better and traveling around Europe, still making annual trips for the winter months to the United States, where they owned a house in Palm Beach, Florida, until 2018, when they became full-time residents of France. Bob is survived by Irina, his wife of 67 years, and children Tanya, Maya ’82, John, and George.
