Richard S. Braddock ’63

Richard S. Braddock ’63 died on September 16, 2024. He grew up in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and attended Greenwich High School. At Dartmouth Rick majored in history and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, worked at The Dartmouth as sports editor, and was active in the Spanish Club and the Outing Club. He was a brother and vice president of Tabard. After graduation he was active as a class agent and a reunion giving committee chair or co-chair (1988 and 2012) and won the class Soaring Pine Award at his 25th reunion. Rick received his M.B.A. from Harvard in 1965 before joining General Foods, where he worked for eight years. He then moved to Citicorp, where he had an illustrious 19-year career, joining the board in 1985 and becoming president in 1990. In 1992 Rick became CEO of Medco Containment Services until it was taken over by Merck and then became chairman and CEO of Priceline and Fresh Direct. He was chairman of Mid Ocean Partners from 2003 to 2007. Rick was active on many boards, including Eastman Kodak, the Metropolitan Opera, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Cristo Rey Network, and the Aspen Institute, where he founded the Braddock scholars program. Rick’s first wife, Shelley, predeceased him. He is survived by Susan, his wife of 47 years, and his children Jen, Brad ’90, Derek ’94, and Nina; and 15 grandchildren, including Allie ’18, Tim ’21, and Annabel ’24.
