Richard M. Streeter ’57

Richard M. Streeter ’57 passed away at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, on April 8. Dick graduated from Rothesay Collegiate School in New Brunswick. He majored in English; was a member of Delta Upsilon, the Interdormitory Committee, and the Newman Club; and was a Winter Carnival crew chief. He earned his M.B.A. from University of Ontario, Canada. He started his career with the Industrial Development Bank in Saint John, transferred to its Montreal office, then into the investment business in Montreal and Toronto. He moved to Rothesay and from 1972 to 1983 was president of Cullinan Gaskin Transfer Ltd., engaged in the trucking and warehousing business. In 1983 he sold the business and became an investment advisor until his retirement in 2004. Dick became very involved in his community. He was a Rothesay town councilor for six years followed by two terms as mayor. He served the region as president of the Towns of New Brunswick council, chairman of the provincial municipal council, and on the board of directors of the federation of municipalities. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He donated 10 years of service to the Canadian Red Cross, was president in 1982, and was awarded Member of the Red Cross 1984. Dick loved to sail and was commodore of the Rothesay Yacht Club. He enjoyed playing golf from his early teens until the age of 80. He survived by Nancy, his wife of more than 50 years, son Jay, daughter Lisa, and many grandchildren.
