Richard G. Woolworth Jr. ’74

Richard G. Woolworth Jr. ’74 of Greenwich, Connecticut, died unexpectedly of an aortic dissection on December 6, 2021. Rick was married for 45 years to Jill Shaw Woolworth ’77. Rick grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and entered Dartmouth from Lancaster Country Day School and the Groton (Massachusetts) School. Rick was a member of Sigma Nu Delta and Dragon. Rick was also a member of the tennis team and captain of the squash team, winning the Kenneth Archibald Athletic Prize and the J. Clarence Davies Jr. 1934 Tennis Trophy. He graduated magna cum laude with high distinction in history. He earned an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and spent 35 years on Wall Street in investment management and investment banking, including 23 years at Morgan Stanley and 10 years at Aetos Capital. In 2010 Rick cofounded Telemachus Network, where he was president and board chair. Telemachus has built a community of emerging and experienced leaders engaged in mentoring relationships and intergenerational friendships to tackle complex life issues together. For 18 months ending in June 2018, Rick and Jill were fellows in the Stanford Distinguished Career Institute. Rick was an avid golfer who scored his first hole in one in July 2021. Rick is survived by Jill; daughters Jocelyn ’05, Virginia, and Helen; two sons-in-law; three grandchildren; siblings Andrew, Sally, and Louise; and mother Helen B. Woolworth.
