Richard Franklin Kezer ’52
Richard Franklin Kezer ’52 died in Brunswick, Maine, on October 17, 2023. Dick was born on December 15, 1930, in New Jersey and graduated from Glen Brook High School and Dartmouth. He was a member of Sigma Nu and remained an active alumnus. He matriculated at New York University Stern School of Business, earning a master’s in business. He began his career at the investment banking firm of Halsey, Stuart & Co. but this was interrupted in 1954 by U.S. Navy officer candidate school and service, mostly at the Navy base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Halsey, Stuart. In 1966 he joined First National City Bank, later Citibank, and served in the investment banking division. Dick was also active in the public securities arena, and he was appointed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to the municipal securities rulemaking board. Upon retirement from Citibank in 1993, he formed Richard F. Kezer Associates, consulting for organizations such as the Urban Institute and the World Bank. Dick and his family retired to Maine in his later years, and he divided his time between Brunswick and Bailey Island, Maine. He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of 63 years, Valerie, and daughter Leslie, who died in 1967. He is survived by daughters Sandra, Allison, Gail ’82, and Ann; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Robert ’56; and in-law Joseph Dempsey ’76.
