Randolph Gould Wilson Jr. ’52
Randolph Gould Wilson Jr. ’52 of Atlanta passed away on October 4, 2021. Randy was born on April 3, 1930, in Atlanta and was a 1948 graduate of Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated Dartmouth in 1952 with a commission in the U.S. Navy. At Dartmouth he was an English major and a member of Kappa Sigma, Casque & Gauntlet, and the Glee Club. He married Noradel Truxal in 1953 in Frederick, Maryland, and they shared 68 years of devotion. Randy completed his military service with the Navy in 1956 and subsequently worked for National Cylinder Gas, which became Chemetron Corp. and later Air Liquide. Randy’s greatest passion was sailing. He had his first boat at the age of 15 and was never without a boat. He was an avid golfer and had a talent for gardening. Randy moved to Cumming, Georgia, in 1981, when he started a small cattle ranch. He was an active member of the North Georgia Cattleman’s Association. Randy always had a dog. Dogs filled his heart with companionship. Randy was a lifelong Episcopalian and sang in the choir at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Randy and Noradel moved in 2012 to Canterbury Court in Atlanta, where he was instrumental in the establishment of the Canterbury County resident chorus. Randy is survived by Noradel; children Catherine, Grace, Randolph III; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
