R. Ronan Campion ’55

R. Ronan Campion ’55 passed away on October 10, 2018, in Vero Beach, Florida. He is survived by sons Brian and Eric and grandsons Zachariah and Noah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie. Ron was born and raised in Hanover, where his family owned Campion’s on Main Street. He graduated from Governor Dummer Academy before joining the class of 1955. Ron majored in English and was a member of Sigma Nu. He also played soccer and lacrosse. After serving two years in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps, Ron attended Georgetown Law School before joining the retail clothier R.H. Stearns in Boston. Ron returned to Hanover in 1960 to become a manager of Campion’s. He served on the boards of several Hanover organizations, including the chamber of commerce, the school district, and Mary Hitchcock Hospital. In 1986 he received the Hanover Citizen of the Year Award. Ron also served Dartmouth as a member of the Alumni Council, the Athletic Council, and the task force on budget activities.
