Paul Kevin Tuhus ’69
Paul Kevin Tuhus ’69—world traveler, gifted raconteur, collector of odd facts and obituaries of even odder individuals, sworn enemy of all vegetables, and fiercely loyal Dartmouth alum—passed away peacefully in Hanover on November 25, 2024. Paul was born on June 17, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin, where he grew up. He loved Dartmouth and the class of 1969, serving as one of our leaders, most recently guiding his class in its landmark project to restore the Dartmouth Outing Club house. His collection of Dartmouth artifacts and memorabilia was unsurpassed. After Dartmouth and the National Guard, Paul attended Harvard Business School and joined Wells Fargo in San Francisco. He loved to ski and see the world and entertain, and after 10 years in banking decided to make travel his career. Setting out frequently with his good friend John Knight, Paul’s exotic adventures produced countless fascinating tales. He visited more than 100 countries on all seven continents. He guided high-end trips worldwide, including to the North Pole, for sponsors including MIT, Harvard, and the Smithsonian. His sage advice was to venture out and “think of all those people on the Titanic who passed up the dessert cart.” In later years he retired to the Upper Valley, volunteering every week as a Dartmouth guide and storyteller. He is treasured and remembered by his legion of loving friends and classmates as well as his goddaughter, Thea Duncan Brooks.
