Robert B. Buckbee ’57

Robert B. Buckbee ’57 passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Chapel Pointe Nursing Home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Bob came to Dartmouth from Lemoyne (Pennsylvania) High School. He majored in geology, was a member of Phi Delta Theta (pledge master), played rugby, and belonged to the Geological Society. Following graduation, he served in the Air National Guard. He began work as a management analyst in the U.S. Department of Welfare. From 1969 to 1991 he owned and operated Brubaker-Hixson Electronics in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, which provided residential plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, and appliance services. Bob was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for 50 years. He gave faithful support to the church’s mission and could be counted on as the chocolate dipper of Easter eggs for the annual fundraiser. He was a knowledgeable sports fan, a dedicated follower of Penn State football with many memorable weekends in “Happy Valley.” Bob was a loyal fan of the Dodgers in Brooklyn and when they moved to Los Angeles. He was a lifetime member of the Mechanicsburg Club. Bob and his wife, Shirley, traveled often and especially enjoyed their annual three weeks in Aruba where they made many lasting friendships. He is survived by Shirley, daughters Susan and Ellen, and four grandchildren. Son Robert Jr. predeceased him.
