Ronald Christine Scott ’52

Ronald Christine Scott ’52 passed away on September 6, 2018, at Port Charlotte Bayfront Hospital. Ronald was born on February 5, 1930, in Merion, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, and from Dartmouth, where he was an English major and sang with the Glee Club. He later earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Ronald paid for his law degree by enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he was trained to be a fighter pilot. While on active duty, Ronald flew off the USS Bennington as well as the USS Antietam Essex-class aircraft carriers. He later served with the Navy Reserve, rising to the rank of captain before retiring from naval duty in 1990. Ronald was a trial attorney in Philadelphia, specializing in aircraft accidents. His profession often took Ronald around the globe in his defense of aircraft parts manufacturers. He was a lifelong member of the Union League of Philadelphia and enjoyed singing with the Union League Glee Club as well as the New Horizons Glee Club of Narberth, Pennsylvania. He regularly toured the Philadelphia region entertaining residents of nursing homes. Ronald remained an avid aviator and sailor throughout his life. His passion for sailing led him to retire within Punta Gorda Isles, a sailboat community in southwest Florida. Ronald was predeceased by his youngest son, William. He is survived by sons Ronald Jr. and Alexander as well as five grandchildren.
