Thomas Wesley Miller ’67
Thomas Wesley Miller ’67 of Mobile, Alabama, died on August 17, 2018. He came to college from Columbus, Wisconsin, majored in government and urban administration, played football, and was a brother of Phi Gamma Delta. He is remembered fondly by his fraternity brothers as a fine guy and a hard-nosed halfback. Tom left school in 1966, and by 1968 was on a merchant ship carrying tanks to South Korea from San Francisco. He then served on a WW II vintage ship engaged in China coasting in and out of South Vietnam. He returned to Dartmouth for his degree, and following graduation returned to the sea as a cargo ship engineer in the Merchant Marines, retiring in 2000 to live in Mobile. Tom was both well-traveled and well-read. An avid reader and bibliophile, he was known to always have a book in one hand, a cup of coffee in the other (and a cookie close by), ready to share a tidbit of knowledge. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and their daughter, Mackenzie.
