Robert H. Moore ’51

Robert H. Moore ’51 died on August 6, 2018, in Jackson, Michigan, his home for 60 years. He had been a senior financial executive and an entrepreneur. Bob was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Dartmouth and ran on the freshman track team. He earned an M.B.A. from the Tuck School. After graduating from Tuck and working briefly in New York City, Bob moved to Michigan, first to Grand Rapids and then to Jackson. He was the chief financial officer for two automotive products companies, Ryerson & Haynes and the Hancock Cos. In 1997 he bought Taylor Equipment and Party Rental Co., which he owned and managed until his retirement in 1998. Bob was a major contributor to the community, serving as chairman of the Hancock Foundation for decades. He was past president of the Rotary Club of Jackson and was awarded a District Service Award and named a Paul Harris Fellow. Other organizations with which he was involved were Goodwill Industries, Junior Achievement, and the Interfaith Shelter. He taught Sunday school classes at his church for many years. Other passions were ballroom dancing, golf, bowling, skiing, gardening, the Jackson Symphony, and Michigan State University football. Bob is survived by his wife, Cherie, three children, and three grandchildren.
