Nason A. Hurowitz ’51

Nason A. Hurowitz ’51—a pharmacist for more than 50 years in his lifelong home of Worcester, Massachusetts, and an avid performer and lover of classical music—died on October 16, 2018. Nase’s delight in music was evident during his years at Dartmouth. He was a cellist in the Handel Society orchestra and performed with the Marching Band. He was also a member of Pi Lambda Phi and served as advertising manager of the freshman Green Book. As an alumnus he contributed as a member of the class executive committee and was active in numerous volunteer admissions, Alumni Fund, and club officer roles. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1955 and until 2008 owned and managed the family pharmacy business. Nase was active in the Worcester community, serving on the boards of the Friends of Clark University Library, a local hospital, and numerous musical organizations. Nase is survived by his wife, Martha, retired chief justice of the juvenile court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; three children, including James ’76; two stepchildren; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
