William F. Scott ’48
William F. Scott ’48 died July 5, 2018, in Peabody, Massachusetts. Bill was in the ROTC at Dartmouth and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He played football and was an All-American lacrosse player for Tommy Dent in 1947 and 1948. He majored in government. After seven years in hotel management, Bill settled into his life’s work of marketing and selling steel, eventually retiring in 1990. He and his wife, Margie, enjoyed a wide variety of domestic and foreign travel, including a five-month, self-guided trip around the world. Through the years he coached and played in a number of athletic activities. Throughout his life he was a stalwart supporter and participant in Dartmouth and class of ’48 activities and until his death was a long-term member of the class executive committee. He and Margie spent much of their time at their summer home on Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont, where if Bill wanted to see something on TV he went to a local bar. He loved the place and they had lots of visits from their three children and families.
