Donald David Belcher’60

Donald David Belcher’60 of Pauma Valley, California, passed away on July 6. Donald was born November 29, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Donald D. and Elizabeth Jane Martin Belcher. He married M. Marie Langguth. Don graduated from Versailles (Missouri) High School and received his A.B. from Dartmouth, where he was the president of Kappa Kappa Kappa and a member of the Flying Club. He received his M.B.A. at Stanford University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in air defense in Germany. It was there in 1962 that he met and married Marie, who survives him. He was employed for five years with the Pillsbury Co. in sales and marketing. He then owned the Troutdale Ranch, a trout hatchery in his home state in the Ozarks. Returning to corporate life, he spent 25 years at the Avery Dennison label company in various management positions worldwide, rising to the position of group vice president. He then moved to the Banta Corp., retiring as the CEO and chairman of the board. In retirement he served on numerous boards of directors and was an active philanthropist. He and his wife were veteran world travelers, visiting their favorite continent, Africa, 17 times. His proudest achievement in retirement was working for the Boy Scouts of America as a volunteer and national commissioner, traveling the country supporting its membership.
