Edward J. Willi Jr. ’55
Edward J. Willi Jr. ’55 passed away June 24 in Redding, Connecticut. He leaves Cecilia, his wife of 57 years, daughter Denise and three grandchildren. Ed came to Dartmouth from Trinity School in New York. He also trained in piano at Julliard School of Music. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, DOC, Glee Club, and Navy ROTC. After earning an M.B.A. from Tuck, Ed served five years in the Navy, rising to lieutenant. Ed met his wife in Chile, and began a lifelong interest in South America. He served as an executive in the region for General Motors and ITT before returning to the States in 1973. He started an import-export business in South American foods. After he joined Alcoholics Anonymous, Ed became committed to helping others with addiction problems. He was a major supporter of Dartmouth Center on Addiction Recovery and Education. In 2007 Ed organized a ’55 mini-reunion in Chile titled “To Chile with Willi.” During the gathering, he was presented with the Class of 1955 Award.
