John W. Fitzpatrick ’55

John W. Fitzpatrick ’55 died December 22, 2017, in Cheshire, Connecticut. He came to Dartmouth from Hamden (Connecticut) High School and majored in geology. He was a member of the Geological Society, Phi Sigma Kappa, and ROTC. Before starting his teaching career, Jack earned an M.S. in engineering from the University of Hartford and an M.S. in education from Fairfield University. He taught physics at Cheshire (Connecticut) High School for 35 years and was named Physics Teacher of the Year by the American Association of Physics Teachers. After retiring from Cheshire, Jack taught physics and chemistry for five more years at Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden. Jack is survived by sons Patrick ’83 and John and daughter Sally. His wife, Margaret, predeceased him.
