Sargeant Eastman Joys ’54

Sargeant Eastman Joys ’54 passed away on February 26. Sarge came to Dartmouth from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Whitefish Bay High School. At Dartmouth he was a government major and a brother of Phi Gamma Delta. After serving two years in the Army, Sarge became the fourth generation of his family to be involved in Joys Bros. Co. (which later became Laacke & Joys), the oldest retailer and manufacturing company in southeast Wisconsin. Sarge, along with a partner, assumed ownership in 1982. He retired in 1997 and spent winters in Placida, Florida, where he pursued his love of fishing, and summers at the family cottage on Shawano Lake in Wisconsin. Sarge is survived by his wife, LuAnn, son Roger, and daughters Heather and Wendy.
