John Bernard Daukas ’49

John Bernard Daukas ’49 died on November 19, 2017. John, who lived in Westerly, Rhode Island, came to Dartmouth from Nashua (New Hampshire) High School, along with his brother Paul (“Toli”). A serious football injury kept John from following his older brothers into professional football. He operated his own optical company in Middletown, Connecticut, for almost 50 years, and enjoyed sailing and fishing. John is survived by children John Jr. ’84, Galan ’85, and Joan Beth ’88.
